Follow Friday: Smile! You’re on Candid Campus!

28 Jan

This Follow Friday we’re keeping it close to home. Real close.

YFashionDaily is a photo blog that captures good, modest style on campus (filtered through the Honor Code Office, of course…). Hopefully some of our BYUStylistas have been captured by the lucky fashion camera.

You guys may remember that we wanted to include people from campus as much as possible on our blog. We have tried, but have not quite reached the level of follower involvement that we’d like. We would love to follow the example of YFashionDaily and share more snapshots from and of our followers.

This is a call for photographers and aspiring fashionistas. Send us your pics! Of you, your roommates, the good and bad style sitting around you in American Heritage, anything! We can’t wait to see what you have to share.

Follow Friday: Awkward and Awesome

7 Jan

Happy Friday everyone! We hope your first week was successful and refreshing. We have lots of great ideas for the new year and new fashion! (Our New Year’s Fashion Resolutions are coming soon…. promise.)

One of our best friends Eliesa led me to this blog, the subject of our Follow Friday. Husband and Wife, Tyson and Sydney write The Daybook, much to our satisfaction. Our post is going to follow the Awkward and Awesome format, but check out all the other posts, because they’re great. Fantastic style. We endorse it fully.

Now for OUR take on Awkward and Awesome….

  • White socks with Black leggings in Brigham Square
  • BYU Jerusalem T-shirts on the first day of class
  • Pajamas, also the first day of class.
  • Wearing stylish boots, but falling in them. We all know we do it and pretend that we don’t.

  • Knee-high gray leather boots (my most recent purchase, haven’t fallen in them YET)
  • Floppy beanies worn appropriately
  • Boys in skinny ties
  • Chunky knit sweaters and skinny jeans
  • The Daybook!

Thanks to Syd for the great inspiration! Follow her on Twitter!!!

Follow Friday: Kendi Everyday

17 Dec

I think I’ve linked to this blog once, but I wanted to make an official Follow Friday post dedicated to the blog Kendi Everyday. Her style is impeccable. She posts about the outfits she wears everyday, created by her “emotions, circumstances, and conditions of the day.”

I’m impressed and you should be too. Start by following her blog!

Shabby Apple

3 Dec

When it comes to dressing modestly, it can be particularly difficult to find dresses that aren’t too short, too low or too nun-inspired. Shabby Apple is a relatively new website based out of New York City that specializes in modest, fashion-forward clothing. The lines are clean and the looks are classic with an urban flare. Here is a preview of what they have to offer. Be sure to check them out.

Follow Friday – The Sartorialist

19 Nov

Ok we’ve dropped the ball on Follow Friday for the last while…. our apologies. But we’ll make up for it with this awesome post.

I found “The Sartorialist” through a magazine about a year ago. The concept is awesome. Scott Schuman is a photographer that snaps pictures of great style he sees on the streets. He shoots mostly in New York City, but has also done stints in Paris, London, Rome, and Madrid. I love getting outfit inspiration from his work. Check it out. It’s pretty incredible. {And don’t be afraid boys. He does men’s style too.}

Follow Friday – Put Your Best Face Forward

23 Oct

I found these girls a few months ago and I’ve been obsessed ever since (see our #ff tweet today to follow them on Twitter). I love makeup and I love the way these girls turn it into art. Sisters Samantha and Nicola are makeup artists that show you how to be more creative with your makeup routine, and how to choose the right products for you. Check them out!

Follow Friday

15 Oct

To kick off our first Follow Friday, we’ve got a great style blog for you, EmersonMade. They feature a prime selection of clothing, all with a touch of nautical and a bit of vintage. But, fortunately, they haven’t overdone it with the vintage. They found a perfect balance between retro and classy and even have a store for you to buy their simple pleasures.

Want to be featured on our next Follow Friday or have a suggestion? Give us a shout!
